Financial Audit in the Republic of Moldova: Requirements and Challenges

Abstract:
The article intends to keep track of the accountancy profession evolution and, within this development, of the audit activity in the Republic of Moldova, beginning with 1998 until the present times. Auditors considered this study useful, having in mind the flow of social-economic events of the last 10 years and the need to align the entire national audit professional to the international requirements. In this context, both the dead ends and the performances in this field are highlighted. A series of requirements are mentioned, based on the National Program on the accounting and audit reform, certain future measures to be taken being underlined, related to the establishment of the harmonization with the European and international regulations and practices in the field, including in what regards the application of the International Standards on Audit and the Code of Ethics issued by IFAC.\r\nIn this regard, the article mentions the actions undertaken by ACAP Republic of Moldova, including in the area of cooperation with professional bodies in other countries.\r\n
