Abstract:
Auditing is one of the oldest and most venerated function. Lately it has been noticed an audit explosion in several fields of activity. The spread of the audit and other quality ensuring initiatives means that many individuals and organsiations have become entities to be audited for the first time. On a historical scale, the performance audit is one of the last improvments which in fact represents a modern, challenging and fascinating version. The supreme audit institutions as part of the external audit services, aim to examine the eficacy of the internal audit. The role, main types and the challenges of the supreme audit institutions are briefly addressed in this paper.\r\n\r\n
