Abstract:
During the next 50 years, accounting will continue its natural road from data to information and from information to knowledge. Thus, we think that until 2010, accounting will be based on data.\r\n\r\nAfter 1970, accounting improved its data processing and their transformation in pieces of information that are good and necessary for the decision making process; this makes us call it information-based accounting.\r\n\r\nThe next decisive moment in accounting will be around 2035-2040, when we will witness the refining of accounting information and the providing of meaningful information to the management of the company; this will impose a refined level of accounting organization, dubbed by us knowledge-based accounting.
