Abstract:
This article was inspired by the 14th edition of FIDEF Conference "Cooperation between academic environment and professional bodies for the consolidation of initial and continuous education in the field of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation", conference which took place in Bucharest between May 25 - 26, 2012, with direct involvement of the two Romanian professional bodies: Body of Experts and Licensed Accountants of Romania and the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania. The purpose of this Conference was to establish the fundamental role played by professional bodies and higher education institutions in both education and continuous training of young people and professional accountants. The conclusions of all the debates that took place over two days led to the idea of strengthening the cooperation between academies and professional bodies for the financial-accounting education of general public, since there is well known that an informed public, aware of the rules of the game, will easier succeed to understand the phenomena generated by the economic and financial crisis and find adequate solutions to everyday problems.\r\nIn this article the authors present some feedback on the issues addressed, as well as several proposals for setting a strategy in order to increase the efficiency of training in the accounting profession and also in the general public education in this field. \r\n\r\n
