Abstract:
The financial and banking risks have been the object of thorough investigations for a long time. After the economic and financial crisis has burst in the United States in 2007 and has been later propagated worldwide, the evaluation and the control methods of the banking risks had to be re-examined and re-defined in order to establish the rules necessary to avoid the repetition of such situations. \r\nIn knowledge-based economies supplementary risks can be encountered. For example, the risks of funding new technologies (such as the telemedicine systems or the systems based on low carbon emissions) or new inventions (such as the grafen, a new carbon-based material) are higher than the ones necessary for financing already known technologies. \r\nThe main aim of this paper is to identify the credit risk and its management in the Romanian banking system under the circumstances of the knowledge economy. \r\n\r\n\r\n
